Very touched that Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver, CO asked me to post a few reflections on their blog for their Lit Matters series, an annual series in which writers and readers express why supporting and elevating literary arts—the mission of Lighthouse Writers Workshop— is important to them.
I reflected on the ways in which the compressed stories of Lydia Davis have changed the way I see the importance of Literature over time. I have to thank Corey Dahl for her amazing editing (she turned my turd of a blog post into a respectable reflection in about three hours) and Andrea Dupree for her tireless direction, help, and encouragement at the Lighthouse, quickly becoming the single most enjoyable literary community I have ever known.
